With over 30 years of hands-on experience in the automotive retail industry paired with public accounting experience, Marilou offers a unique skill set including auditing, due diligence, financial reporting, forensic accounting, controller, CFO, and operational management experience in both public and privately held dealerships. Marilou’s entire professional career has been exclusively dedicated to the retail automotive industry.
Prior to co-founding Axiom Advisors, Marilou was a Dealerships Consultancy Manager with the public accounting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLC (“MBAF”), Marilou provided specialized services to automotive dealers including operational analysis, forensic accounting, forecasting, internal audits, litigation support, DMS consulting, buy/sell and due diligence support, and operational support at all departmental levels.
Prior to joining MBAF, Marilou served as the Chief Financial Officer and Controller of a multi-franchise luxury dealership group.In this position, she was responsible for overseeing the operations and financial reporting of multiple accounting offices, implemented and maintained strong internal controls, conducted internal audits, and managed several dealership buy/sells from the due diligence phase to closing.Marilou also has experience in overseeing dealership expansion projects, forecasting, budgeting, and preparing manufacturer applications.
Marilou’s experience working for AutoNation, the nation’s largest automotive retailer, included financial oversight of thirteen dealerships in three districts nationwide. Marilou also served as an accounting manager at the AutoNation corporate offices.
Prior to joining AutoNation, Marilou held financial roles in family owned dealership groups as both Assistant Controller and Office Manager.Marilou gained valuable experience in automotive best practices, internal controls, financial reporting and communications skills in these roles, providing a strong foundation for a successful career in the retail automotive industry.
